Nearly two years after the company Levantina Ingeniería, which was facing pre-creditors' meeting, withdrew its machinery, construction activity will return to Mare de Déu de Montserrat Avenue. The sudden halt, when only two floors had been erected, necessitated modifications to the original project before the restart.
The modifications include simplifying the housing installations to incorporate an auditorium, a neighborhood center, a senior center, and a youth center. This change has increased the total budget to 21.9 million euros, with a reserve fund of nearly €300,000 set aside for reinforcing the existing pillars.
The process for contracting the new construction company is underway. The tender documents stipulate a maximum duration of 30 months for the works once awarded, placing the expected completion of the building during 2028.
The resulting building will feature a basement and between four and five upper floors. The basement will house the auditorium with a capacity for 230 people. The ground floor and mezzanine will be dedicated to community facilities, including multipurpose rooms, coworking spaces, and a bar.
The 83 subsidized housing units will be distributed starting from the first floor. Furthermore, the project includes relocating the Quirhort, the community garden, to a fifth-floor terrace, oriented northwest.
