The City Council of Vacarisses, with the support of the Diputació de Barcelona, has presented the Municipal Reading Plan of Vacarisses (PMLV), which will extend until 2031. The goal is to establish reading as a daily habit, improve access, and promote the Catalan language.

The plan's presentation took place on Saturday, October 24th, coinciding with International Libraries Day. The event began with a book exchange and featured interventions from the Councillor for Culture, Olga Serra Luque; Oriol Homs Ferret, representing Tantàgora (the company that developed the plan); the director of the municipal library El Castell, Laura Kotnik Mercadé; and the manager of the Network of Municipal Libraries, Marta Cano Vers.
The PMLV was developed through a participatory process involving surveys of entities, educational centers, and citizens of Vacarisses. The driving group included technicians from Culture, Adult Education, and Citizen Participation, as well as the directors of the Font de l’Orpina school and the municipal library.
This transversal tool aims to integrate reading into daily life, reduce access inequalities, and promote reading habits, while also working to support the Catalan language. The plan's actions will be developed and evaluated until 2031.
