On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10th, the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental has initiated a new awareness campaign aimed at municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. The initiative, named "What You Don't See," focuses on the emotional well-being of young people, based on the idea that many daily situations generate emotions that are difficult to identify or express.
The campaign invites individuals to recognize their own experiences, name them, and understand that talking about them is a form of self-care. "What You Don't See" is materialized in three short videos that link common situations among adolescents and young people with specific emotions, aiming to normalize conversations about feelings and provide tools to identify them.
These materials can be accessed through the communication channels and social media of the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental. This action is part of the Council's initiatives on mental health and emotional well-being for adolescents, young people, and their families, such as the Servei Connectem and the Escolta Jove figure.
The Servei Connectem, which is operational again for the 2026-2027 academic year, offers awareness, guidance, and support to young people and families in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. It addresses issues such as relationship conflicts, self-esteem, emotional management, or substance use. This year, it expands with the incorporation of Viladecavalls and a specific in-person space for municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
The service is supported by the Diputació de Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya. In parallel, the Escolta Jove figure provides a close space for young people to express their concerns and receive guidance.
