The Assembly of Education of Catalonia has agreed to call a strike in public schools for the upcoming September 8, coinciding with the first day of the school year.

The decision was made at a meeting held in Sant Celoni, which also included representatives from the unions USTEC, CGT, Intersindical, CNT, and COS. These unions are the ones with the legal capacity to formally announce the strike.
The spokesperson for the AEC, Mònica Rodrigo, stated to ACN that, despite the Department of Education's claims of a normal start to the school year, the situation will not be so. Rodrigo emphasized the desire not to wait until the start of the term to begin discussions.
The Assembly of Education requests the government to convene the negotiation table with the strike committee. The aim is to reach consensus and achieve improvements in the public education system. The intention is to advance talks and pressure the Department of Education before the new academic year begins.
