The 18th International Congress of Educating Cities is taking place this week in Granollers, featuring 100 global educational experiences and emphasizing the role of municipalities in learning.

The city of Granollers is hosting the 18th International Congress of Educating Cities, an event that brings together 14 presentations and a hundred educational experiences from around the world. The congress focuses on promoting critical thinking, creativity, community participation, coexistence, and equal opportunities, underscoring the role of municipalities as educational environments that extend beyond traditional schooling.
In this context, L'Hospitalet, a member of the network since 1996, has presented its LH Ciència initiative. This transversal municipal strategy aims to bring science closer to citizens, foster critical thinking, and reduce inequalities in access to scientific culture, viewing science as a vital tool for understanding the world and addressing societal challenges.
For years, L'Hospitalet has promoted educational and community policies aligned with the principles of an educating city. Projects like the Tàndem program connect educational centers, organizations, and municipal services to create lifelong learning opportunities and strengthen social cohesion.
The Tàndem program by Televisió L'Hospitalet has also been implemented in three educational centers, including the Institut Bisbe Berenguer. Here, students learn about audiovisual production, from camera operation to conducting interviews, with a key focus on responsible information consumption and identifying fake news. This practical training culminates in the creation of a school's own news report.
In addition to the Institut Bisbe Berenguer, the Tàndem program by Televisió L'Hospitalet also reaches the Institut Torres i Bages and the Escola Frederic Mistral, expanding its educational reach.
