“"This work marks a before and after in the history of music. With overflowing energy and unprecedented ambition, the composer expands the limits of the classical symphony and opens the way to Romanticism. Despite this innovative spirit, Beethoven remains rooted in the legacy of Classicism and the ideals of the Enlightenment. A disciple of Haydn, he assimilates formal clarity and balance, elements that coexist with his transformative impulse."

The Granollers Chamber Orchestra (OCGr) will present a concert at the Teatre Auditori de Granollers (TAG) exploring the musical links between Franz Joseph Haydn and his pupil Ludwig van Beethoven, including his Third Symphony.
The ensemble, led by Corrado Bolsi, will perform on Sunday at 6 PM in the main hall of the TAG. The program, titled “From Haydn to Beethoven,” will highlight the influences and innovations that marked the transition from Classicism to Romanticism in music.
The same orchestra sources have indicated that the concert will allow for the discovery of unexpected nuances in the works of both composers, showing that Haydn's music is not as “sensible” nor Beethoven's as “passionate” as one might think. Furthermore, Haydn's lyrical facet will be explored through the concert aria genre, a lesser-known part of his output.
One hour before the main concert begins, at 5 PM, the small hall of the TAG will host a presentation of the repertoire by music critic Xavier Xavarria. This preliminary session will serve to contextualize the works and their composers, offering a deeper perspective to attendees.
Concurrently, the orchestra will also offer an educational concert for children at 5 PM, titled “Cooking a Symphony.” This symphonic proposal is designed with an adapted format to introduce classical music to the youngest audience in a playful and educational way.
