Aiming to restore public confidence in Rodalies, the Government, along with the Ministry, Renfe, and Adif, has unveiled a works plan to transform stations into "dignified" infrastructures. These actions complement larger projects that will take years to complete.
The Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, emphasized the importance of station comfort as the "gateway to the system." 760 million euros are allocated for the 2026-2027 biennium. Ten new stations are already in the project phase, such as Bellissens in Reus (10 million euros), and fifteen more will undergo comprehensive modernizations, including Molins de Rei (over 9 million euros), Llinars del Vallès (2.9 million euros), and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda - La Florida (2.2 million euros).
At the Sants station, the space dedicated to Rodalies is increasing by 85% with a total investment of 150 million euros. Additionally, 10 more stations are in the project drafting phase.
The ministry's "A punto" plan includes smaller interventions, around 300,000 euros per station, for aesthetic, comfort, or functional improvements. These works on flooring, LED lighting, and painting will take place at stations like Sitges, Fabra i Puig, Sabadell Sud, Vilanova i la Geltrú, or Sant Celoni, and are scheduled from this summer until January next year.
These measures are part of the Rodalies transfer process. The Government also intends to request the transfer of station ownership for local management, currently largely held by Adif. Minister Paneque indicated that the transfer of stations is a priority and might be simpler than that of the tracks, following the model already initiated with the R1 line.
