The decision was made at a meeting held in Sant Celoni this Saturday, with the participation of representatives from various unions such as USTEC, CGT, Intersindical, CNT, and COS, who have the capacity to officially call the strike.
The Educational Assembly, a new debate forum for professionals and unions in the sector, believes that their demands have not been heard. The entity's spokesperson, Mònica Rodrigo, stated that despite the Department of Education's expectations for a normal start to the school year, "this will not be the case".
Rodrigo emphasized that "the cycle of mobilizations must continue because the demands have not been heard" and that "the small proposals made do not change the day-to-day in the classroom." Therefore, they urge the government to convene a negotiation table with the strike committee to "achieve consensus and an improvement in the public system" before early September.
The 2025-26 academic year saw intense mobilizations, with a total of 22 strike days in schools and institutes, and 25 if stoppages in nursery schools are included. The department had announced meetings with families, management teams, and teachers, separate from the unions, to gather improvement proposals, scheduled between July and the first term of the next academic year.
