The emergency number 112 received several calls yesterday at 10:33 PM reporting a fire affecting the first floor of a residence located on Llerona street. The building, with a ground floor and three upper floors, houses a total of 80 residents and six staff members.
The Bombers de la Generalitat (Generalitat Firefighters) deployed a unit with 13 crews and approximately forty personnel. They worked on extinguishing the fire from both the exterior, using an aerial ladder, and the interior. The fire was declared extinguished around 11:00 PM.
The fire damaged several rooms on the first floor, and smoke also affected the second and third floors. As a precautionary measure, the first and second floors were partially evacuated, and 42 residents were confined to safe areas.
In one of the first-floor rooms, believed to be the origin of the fire, firefighters discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified person. After extinguishing the flames, they proceeded to ventilate the building and inspect all floors.
The first and second floors of the residence have been declared uninhabitable, while the third floor, despite smoke damage, remains habitable. The Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) (Emergency Medical System) reports that 78 people were affected, 13 of whom were taken to hospitals in Mollet, Granollers, and Sant Celoni for smoke inhalation.
The Department of Social Rights and Inclusion dispatched personnel to provide support with the necessary arrangements. The residence managed the relocation of residents to unaffected areas, excluding those transferred to hospitals.
