The institutional event, held at the Casal Cultural de Corró d’Avall on October 25th, was presided over by the mayor, Juan Antonio Corchado Ponce, and the Councilor for Commerce, Mar Gallego Garrido. The aim is to highlight the contribution of these businesses to the economic and social development of the municipality and to recognize the effort in keeping local proximity commerce alive.
"Having businesses that have been part of Les Franqueses for fifty years or more is a source of pride for the municipality. They are businesses that continue to offer added-value service, personalized attention that can only be found in local proximity commerce, right next door. It is essential that administrations support local businesses and shops to ensure their continuity," stated Mayor Juan Antonio Corchado Ponce, emphasizing the importance of institutional support.
The Councilor for Commerce, Mar Gallego Garrido, highlighted the role of local businesses as spaces for coexistence and human interaction. "Entering an establishment and being greeted by name. Being asked how your mother is, remembering what you like, or taking time to listen to you. These are daily gestures that make us feel accompanied," she explained.
The establishments recognized for their long trajectory are: Maynou (since 1976), Ortega Mobles - Mubak (since 1974), Perruqueria Siluet (since 1970), Talleres Pou, SL (since 1969), Agrària del Vallès, SCCL (since 1968), Oficina Tècnica Cutrina (since 1966), Pescadería Dolores (since 1966), Electrocamps Instal·lacions, SL (since 1965), Josep Mas, SL (since 1964), Bar Los Cazadores (since 1967), Farmàcia M.Pilar Jiménez Ucero (since 1956), Matalassos Fortuny (since 1945), Forn de Pa V Santos (since 1931), and Estanc Ateneu (since 1923).
This initiative is born with the intention of continuity, and the City Council has already announced that next year the call will be extended to establishments with 25 years of activity, aiming to recognize a wider range of businesses and continue advocating for proximity commerce.
