The new role of SLOATE coordinator, introduced in late June, aims to enhance network collaboration and support for students at risk of dropping out of the education system. The SLOATE system, promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council, provides municipalities with tools to develop public policies for guidance and support throughout educational journeys, with a special focus on preventing school absenteeism and combating Early School Leaving (ESL).
This methodology promotes collaboration between educational centers, social services, and municipal departments for education, youth, and employment. This coordination will improve the detection of at-risk situations, enable more personalized student follow-up, and strengthen guidance during key transitions between educational stages.
The ultimate goal is to support each child and young person in their educational journey, ensuring they have the necessary opportunities to continue their education and preventing disengagement from the educational system.
The Barcelona Provincial Council has granted the City Council a subsidy of 23,076.27 euros to fund the hiring of this specialized professional profile until the end of 2026.
