The Alt Camp region has registered a historic peak in subsidies aimed at facilitating rent payments for young people. Last year, the total investment surpassed the one million euro mark for the first time, reaching €1,218,164, according to official data from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Within the region, Valls stands out as the municipality with the highest concentration of these subsidies. In 2025, 421 subsidies were granted, the highest figure in the last six years, representing an increase of 22 subsidies compared to the previous year. When compared to 2020, Valls has increased its subsidies by 103, rising from 318 to 421.
The evolution of subsidies has varied across different municipalities in the Alt Camp. While towns like Nulles have seen their subsidies grow from 2 to 8, and Vallmoll from 2 to 6, and Els Garidells from 2 to 4, others such as El Rourell have experienced a decrease from 3 to 1 subsidy, and Cabra del Camp has gone from 9 to 5.
Despite these municipal variations, the general trend has been an increase in the funds allocated to subsidies, even in those municipalities where the number of granted subsidies has decreased.
At the Camp de Tarragona level, rent subsidies have shown a general increase during 2024 and 2025. In Alt Camp, the number of subsidies rose from 589 to 622, and the investment grew by 30.7%, exceeding €1.2 million. In Baix Camp, despite a slight decrease in the number of subsidies (from 3,429 to 3,402), the investment increased to €7.5 million. In Conca de Barberà, subsidies grew from 361 to 388, with a 64% increase in investment. In Priorat, subsidies decreased from 125 to 110, but the investment rose slightly. Finally, in Tarragonès, subsidies increased from 3,741 to 3,855, with an investment of €8.5 million.
In terms of monetary increase, Conca de Barberà has been the area where funds allocated to subsidies have grown the most, closely followed by Alt Camp.
