The Festa del Batre (Threshing Festival), a tradition dating back to 1989, took place again in Cabra del Camp this Sunday, August 2nd. The event aims to showcase ancient farming practices and agricultural traditions of the municipality.
The day began early in the morning, with participants traveling by cart to the Molí de la Vila stop to collect wheat sheaves harvested weeks prior. This activity saw significant participation, drawing both local residents and visitors from other towns.
Subsequently, the sheaves were moved to the threshing floor at ca l’Elvira, where a demonstration of traditional threshing methods was performed. The display showcased the techniques used for years to separate grain from straw in dryland farming areas.
The Festa del Batre is an initiative organized by the Cabra del Camp Town Council, with the collaboration of the Comissió del Segar i Batre (Harvesting and Threshing Commission).
