Valls has begun preparations for the total solar eclipse on August 12th with the "Valls mira al cel" (Valls looks at the sky) activity program. The first of three educational sessions, open to all citizens, took place on Tuesday, July 14th, at the Joana Ballart pavilion. The session was led by renowned astrophotographer Carlos Uriarte, who shared the secrets of this anticipated astronomical phenomenon.
The event began at six in the evening with a theoretical talk. Afterwards, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a practical outdoor astronomical observation session, using a telescope to learn about the equipment's operation and necessary safety guidelines.
The Valls City Council has organized two additional talks to be held during the remainder of July to disseminate information across different parts of the municipality. The second conference will take place on Thursday, July 23rd, at the Xavi Tondo pavilion in the Fornàs neighborhood. The series will conclude on Tuesday, July 28th, with a final public session in the Comarques neighborhood, ensuring that residents from various areas of the city can properly prepare for the August astronomical event.
