The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 10th. The Valls Local Police had set up a checkpoint at the Mas Clariana roundabout, heading towards the Alcover road. A vehicle ignored the officers' signals and fled, but was intercepted shortly after on the C-37, heading towards Alcover.
Officers observed that the driver, described as a resident of Tarragona, showed clear signs of driving under the influence of alcohol. When asked to take a breathalyzer test, he flatly refused.
Furthermore, with the assistance of Duke, the Local Police dog, narcotic substances were found inside the vehicle. Consequently, a substitute driver had to be found to move the vehicle, as it was immobilized.
