The main focuses of the meeting of the Council of Mayors of Alt Camp, held yesterday evening at the Local Cultural d’Alió, were the improvement of interurban transport, the promotion of mental health in the region, and the future management of the municipal waste collection service.
The project Mental Health from Village to Village in Alt Camp and Conca de Barberà, promoted by the Associació Porta Oberta, was presented. This initiative aims to bring mental health resources and support closer to the region's municipalities, with a special emphasis on smaller population centers.
Regarding mobility, the commitment of the Generalitat and the Territorial Mobility Authority (ATM) to gather proposals from town councils and other stakeholders was highlighted. The goal is to adapt public transport to citizens' needs, considering mobility in rural areas and small municipalities.
In the presidency's report, the opening of the period for objections to the Territorial Sectorial Plan for the Implementation of Renewable Energies in Catalonia (PLATER) was announced, running until July 30th. This tool aims to regulate the deployment of renewable energies, balancing the energy transition with the preservation of natural values.
The session concluded with the unanimous approval of the initial proposal to modify the management of the municipal waste collection service. The change proposes shifting from direct management to indirect management through a service contract, aiming to adapt the service to current challenges and improve its efficiency.
