The fire, advancing at about 2 kilometers per hour and generating secondary outbreaks, has necessitated the continued confinement order for approximately 2,500 residents of Aiguamúrcia, la Llacuna, Pontons, Querol, and Torrelles de Foix. Over 200 personnel from the Generalitat Firefighters, with 42 ground crews and 9 aerial units, are working on the extinction, and two large-capacity water bombers have been requested from the Ministry for Ecological Transition.
Rural Agents are continuing to assess the affected area and investigate the cause of the fire. The blaze is moving northwest, has crossed the T-224 road, and is advancing towards residential areas. Aerial resources are working on the flanks to halt its spread, while heavy machinery is being deployed to fields to help contain the flames.
The Catalan Traffic Service reports that the T-244 road is completely closed between Aiguamúrcia and Querol due to the fire.
The mayor of Aiguamúrcia, Òscar Sendra, expressed concern over this being the third fire in the area this week, finding it unusual given today's weather conditions. He explained that the fire started around 4:00 PM in the Vall de l'Infern, near a farmhouse, and is burning in a densely wooded area with little cultivated land.
