The Generalitat Firefighters have deployed a large operation to control a forest fire that started shortly before 4:00 PM this Sunday in the Vall de l'Infern, in Aiguamúrcia (Alt Camp). The blaze, which appears to be recurring in the same area in recent days, has already consumed around 45 hectares of forest land, according to the Agents Rurals.
The fire has necessitated the deployment of 24 ground crews and 6 aerial units, totaling 75 personnel, to prevent the flames from spreading further in this area with significant forest cover. Emergency services report that the fire is growing in intensity, with several secondary ignitions detected.
As a precautionary measure, residents in several population centers have been advised to shelter in place: Ranxos de Bonany, Bon Any, Valldossera, Can Llenes, Mas Gassons, El Mas Vermell, and Pontons. The road T-244 between Querol and Aiguamúrcia has also been closed.
This incident occurs at the same location where firefighters worked intensively on Saturday to extinguish another forest fire. That previous fire, reported on Saturday, July 11th, also affected the forest mass of the Vall de l'Infern and initially required the mobilization of thirteen ground crews and three aerial units.
Saturday's fire started very close to another significant forest fire that occurred the previous Wednesday, near the T-244 road, between Pla de Manlleu and Ranxos de Bonany. That fire led to the road being closed for several hours, and the smoke prompted a preventive confinement order for Pla de Manlleu.
Emergency services are continuing their efforts to stabilize the fire, which is burning forest vegetation with high intensity and spreading uphill, driven by the sea breeze. Currently, there are no reports of damage to homes.
