Fire in Valls premises forces confinement of 17 residents

A fire declared on Monday afternoon in a commercial premises on the ground floor of a building in Valls forced the preventive confinement of 17 residents, affecting the kitchen and warehouse.

The fire broke out on Monday afternoon, with the alert received at 17:24 hours. The establishment, located on the ground floor of a four-story building in Valls, suffered significant damage to the kitchen and storage area.

As a preventive measure, the confinement in their homes of all residents of the building was ordered, a total of 17 people.

According to the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters), approximately 40% of the premises was directly affected by the fire, although the entire space suffered the effects of high temperatures. To gain access, emergency teams had to cut the metal shutter.
Once the fire was extinguished, the crews cut off supplies, checked for possible hot spots with a thermal camera, and ventilated the property. Six Fire Department units participated in the operation, also inspecting the stairwell, the building's homes, and an adjacent block where smoke had filtered through.
