Work to connect electrical transformation centers in Alcover began on June 1st, responding to the municipal demand to end power cuts.

The Alcover Town Council has seen the commencement of works to connect the CT XR553 and CT XR377 transformation centers, a long-claimed action to ensure a stable electrical supply in the municipality. This initiative responds to a motion recently approved by the council, which demanded an urgent solution from e-distribución to the electrical problems.
As the council denounced, reliance on an obsolete line from la Selva del Camp caused constant micro-cuts and service interruptions, affecting homes, industries, water supply, and public facilities. The new connection between the transformation stations is one of three key actions planned by the electricity company to definitively resolve these endemic issues, which are exacerbated during storm episodes.
The project, with a total investment of 82,199.85 euros, includes the installation of a new 25 kV medium-voltage underground line. The civil works will involve opening a 430-meter long trench, passing through Dr. Pere Güell, Onze de Setembre, Trossos, and Pintor A. Català streets.
Beyond the essential improvement in the electrical service, the civil works will allow for urbanistic enhancements, such as the elimination of existing overhead transfers, which will be buried, improving the aesthetics and safety of public roads. The entire roadway affected by the underground line will be asphalted, going beyond simply covering the trench.
These tasks are fundamental for modernizing the network, stabilizing the service, and protecting it from adverse weather conditions. The council requests understanding from residents for any potential temporary inconveniences, confident in the significant benefit for the entire town.
