The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, confirmed this Friday that there are potential buyers interested in the International Paper plants located in Valls and Montblanc.

The company announced in early February its plans to close both facilities, threatening 200 jobs. Authorities from the Spanish Government and the Generalitat are working together to ensure a reindustrialization process.

"There is economic viability, there is will, and there is business interest so that this does not end in closure."

Negotiations between the works council and the management of International Paper will begin next Monday. Workers emphasize that the plants remain profitable and are essential for the local economy.
