A traffic accident involving two trailers at kilometer 5 of the AP-7 motorway, near Agullana (Alt Empordà), caused the total closure of the highway heading towards France this Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2 PM, when one of the heavy vehicles overturned. Despite the severity of the crash, the Catalan Traffic Service (Servei Català de Trànsit) confirmed that the drivers sustained no injuries.

For the tasks of removing the overturned truck and its cargo of vegetables, the motorway was completely closed starting at 2:30 PM.

Initially, the Mossos d'Esquadra only kept one lane open, causing tailbacks that stretched up to 2.5 kilometers from Capmany.
Following the closure, mandatory diversions were established at exit 6 (La Jonquera) onto the N-II. Affected vehicles can rejoin the AP-7 later at exit 3, corresponding to Figueres.
Traffic Police (Mossos de Trànsit), the Medical Emergency System (SEM), and the Firefighters (Bombers de la Generalitat) were dispatched to the scene, where they had to manage a minor diesel leak from one of the overturned trailer's tanks.
