The local government, led by Pia Serinyana, reduced the valuation to 5.6 million euros, admitting they might have to sell municipal assets to cover the cost.

The heirs of Luís Aznárez are demanding 21 million euros from the Cadaqués Town Council as compensation for the land ceded in 1981 to build the Sa Guarda football field, following a favorable court ruling in 2022.

The dispute dates back to 1981, when Luís Aznárez ceded the plot to the then-mayor, Isidro Escofet, through an agreement promising compensation with other land or its economic value, a compensation that was never fulfilled, despite the adjacent street being named after Aznárez.
After a 2022 ruling sided with the heirs regarding the breach of the exchange agreement, María Adelaida Aznárez Hermosa and Yago Iglésias Aznárez submitted an appraisal valuing property 1.671, where the Sa Guarda field is located, at 21 million euros.

"The amount of 5.6 million euros remains very high for a municipality like Cadaqués, to the extent that we cannot rule out having to make difficult decisions, including selling municipal assets."

The council, led by Mayor Pia Serinyana, approved a proposal to reduce the valuation to 5.6 million euros, based on an external expert report that only considers 4,400 square meters of the property. Now, with both valuations known, the case will be transferred to the Expropriation Jury of Catalonia, which will set the final price.
