The popular Capmany Wine Tasting will mark the start of the Santa Àgata Major Festival this Friday, featuring nine local wineries and the notable presence of Clos d’Agon de Calonge.

The Capmany Wine Tasting has established itself as the inaugural event of the Santa Àgata Major Festival program, reaffirming the municipality's position as the town with the most wineries protected by the DO Empordà seal. More than two hundred people will be able to sample nine wines from the different local varieties.

"It is not a casual invitation; we wanted to deepen the twinning between the Alt and Baix Empordà, and the presence of Clos d’Agon at our wine festival is a good way to do it."

Joan Fuentes · Mayor of Capmany
The main novelty this year is the presence of the guest winery, Clos d’Agon de Calonge, from the Baix Empordà. Mayor Joan Fuentes highlighted this gesture as a way to deepen regional cooperation. The tasting will be guided by sommelier Laura Masramon and will feature musical accompaniment by Cece Giannotti & Aprés Minuit.
The oenological activity will take place in the main hall of the Sindicat el Parral, named after the architect Joan Antoni Rodeja, which is debuting a new acoustic system to prevent resonance. The nine wines will be paired with various local products, including the famous Negret, the recovered black turnip of Capmany, a key reference in Empordà gastronomy.
The Santa Àgata Festival will continue on Saturday afternoon with a children's show by Maga Charlotte at the Societat la Fraternal, followed by the Nit Jove (Youth Night) featuring Sunmorenao Duo and DJ Lia Jensen. Sunday will conclude with mass, sardana dances, and a concert by the Principal de la Bisbal orchestra.
