On Sunday, July 30, 2023, approximately 200 people gathered at the Club Nàutic esplanade of the Darnius-Boadella reservoir (Alt Empordà) to hold an unprecedented mass praying for rain.

During the Summer of 2023, the Alt Empordà region was experiencing an extreme drought that reduced the Darnius-Boadella reservoir to a critical 21.5% capacity, a level not seen since the year 2000. In this critical context of record high temperatures, liturgical rituals were promoted to ask for the end of the water shortage.

"To seek personal and collective introspection regarding the drought and the value of water."

The mass, held at the Club Nàutic esplanade on July 30, 2023, was attended by about 200 people and presided over by Rector Pere-Lluís Aymerich. The event also featured the participation of biologist Josep Maria Dacosta, who provided a scientific perspective on the water situation and read a decalogue.
This activity was organized by the Darnius Parish and the adult faith group, with the collaboration of the municipalities of Boadella i les Escaules, Darnius, and Maçanet de Cabrenys, among other entities. It is worth noting that months earlier, on April 27, 2023, Peralada had revived the tradition of the Sant Crist Negre procession to invoke rain.
