A joint operation involving Endesa technicians, the Guàrdia Urbana (Local Police), and the Mossos d'Esquadra detected 54 homes with illegal electricity connections in the Culubret neighborhood of Figueres this Tuesday.

The operation was launched following numerous power cuts and overloads recorded on the electrical lines in the area in recent days, according to sources from the Figueres City Council.
The task force, which is part of fraud control and prevention efforts, carried out a total of 114 supply checks to verify possible irregular connections to the electrical grid.

Illegal connections pose a serious risk to people's safety and can cause fires and major network failures.

The main objective of the operation was to disconnect the fraudulent meters and restore supply stability. The City Council emphasizes that these practices, in addition to the physical risk, generate considerable economic damage to other citizens.
