The week started with persistent rainfall on the coast and pre-coastal areas, although by Wednesday the rains were concentrated in the Terres de l'Ebre region. Thursday is expected to be the most stable day, with sun across the community and maximum temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius, despite morning fog banks in the pre-coastal area.
This calm will be short-lived, as an Atlantic front is expected to enter on Friday, generating cloud cover and weak precipitation in the northern half starting midday. This front is the precursor to a polar storm that will settle in during the Christmas week.
Showers will continue throughout Saturday and spread across Catalonia, with the snow level dropping to 1,600 meters in the Pyrenees.
The most intense episode is expected starting Sunday, with the arrival of a cold air mass that could trigger the first full winter storm of the season. Generous precipitation sequences, intense cold, and abundant snowfall are anticipated in the Pyrenees and in unusual locations until the following Tuesday.
