Figueres Celebrates May Crosses with Floral Exhibition and Awards Ceremony

The city of Figueres hosts this Sunday the 2026 edition of the May Crosses Contest, featuring 21 participating entities and tourist trains to facilitate visits.

The city of Figueres is preparing for a new edition of the May Crosses Contest this Sunday, May 3rd, a tradition that will fill the streets with floral creations made by 21 local entities.

This activity, part of the Santa Creu Fairs and Festivals, will allow visitors to enjoy the works displayed at various points throughout the city. To facilitate the tour, tourist trains have been set up, departing from and returning to Plaça Catalunya, although tickets are already sold out.
The crosses can be visited throughout the day, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, the Auditori dels Caputxins will host the awards ceremony, a public event that will recognize the best proposals of this edition.
The May Crosses Contest is a deeply rooted tradition in Figueres, dating back to 1941. It involves creating floral decorations in the shape of a cross to honor the feast of the Santa Creu, which is celebrated every May 3rd and gives its name to the city's main festival.
