The town councils of Vila-sacra, El Far d'Empordà, Fortià, and Riumors have filed a lawsuit against the Figueres City Council following a massive price hike by the municipal water company Fisersa.

The legal action targets a recent amendment to Figueres local regulations. The affected municipalities claim the price per cubic meter of water has jumped from 0.54 euros to 1.07 euros, effectively doubling the cost for neighboring towns.
Furthermore, the quarterly service fee has skyrocketed from 138 euros to over 1,250 euros, representing a 900% increase. Local leaders described the move as a unilateral decision that lacks institutional respect and transparency.

"It is a premise that with the new rates imposed by the Figueres City Council, the fair treatment of citizens is flagrantly violated."
