The Girona Demarcation of the Journalists' Association of Catalonia celebrated its 40th anniversary last Monday with an institutional event held under the dome of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres.

The commemoration included an exclusive visit for members to La Madona de Portlligat, followed by a conversation titled “More necessary than ever” between former dean Neus Bonet and the president of the CAC, Xevi Xirgo.
During the discussion, Bonet and Xirgo stressed the importance of good professional practice and highlighted the essential work carried out by the Association over the past four decades. The current president of the Girona Board, Jordi Grau, and his predecessors, Joan Ventura and Narcís Genís, also expressed similar sentiments.
The event was intended as a special recognition of all the individuals who have been part of the various boards of the Girona Demarcation. The President of the Diputació, Miquel Noguer, and the Mayor of Figueres, Jordi Masquef, were also in attendance.

"Their dedication and constancy have been essential to ensure the continuity of the collegiate work and reinforce the defense of journalism, its values, and its social function."

Following the tribute, the evening moved to the COAC headquarters in Figueres, where a commemorative toast was held and the anniversary candles were blown out.
