The writer from Empordà, Núria Serra Alsina, has published the book La sendera del cor daurat to honor the memory of her uncle, the missionary Joan Alsina Hurtós, assassinated in Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship.

The work, titled La sendera del cor daurat. Joan Alsina: la teva neboda et porta al cor, published by Editorial Círculo Rojo, is not a traditional biography but the chronicle of a personal and physical journey undertaken by the author, born in Castelló d’Empúries, to Chile. The book combines family memory, personal experiences, and collected testimonies to keep alive the legacy of a man committed to justice and solidarity.

"As long as people keep talking about him, he will not die."

Núria Serra Alsina · Author of the book
Joan Alsina Hurtós was a Catalan missionary dedicated to caring for the most vulnerable in hospitals and communities in Chile. His life was tragically cut short during the Pinochet dictatorship due to his commitment to social justice. Although she never met him, Núria Serra states that his example has guided and inspired her deeply.
To write the book, Núria Serra Alsina traveled to Chile twice, visiting emblematic sites related to her uncle's life and memory spaces such as Villa Grimaldi and the Estadio Nacional. The author has personally managed the book's distribution, presenting it in various towns across Catalonia, including Castelló d’Empúries, Llançà, and Figueres.
