Plainclothes officers from the Guàrdia Urbana began the investigation last Monday when they observed three individuals unloading pots and large bags from a vehicle and taking them into a premises on Carrer Nou.
The strong smell of cannabis emanating from the property confirmed the initial suspicions. The agents identified the three men, aged 29, 39, and 42, and requested support from the Mossos d'Esquadra to proceed with the search.
The police seized 1,830 marijuana plants, 10.74 kilograms of prepared buds, and extensive equipment used for indoor cultivation.
The police intervention resulted in the seizure of 136 transformers, 169 spotlights, 39 fans, nine extractor boxes, and 24 carbon filters. A trimming machine and two scales were also confiscated.
It was confirmed that the detainees had tampered with the electrical grid to power the plantation, leading to charges of public health crime and electricity fraud. The suspects are expected to appear before the duty court in Figueres shortly.
