Forecasts from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya were confirmed this Saturday, bringing intense snowfall to Ripollès and Cerdanya, while Alt Empordà prepares for strong winds and heavy rainfall.

Snow has fallen heavily since early morning in areas such as Puigcerdà, Molló, Camprodon, Ribes de Freser, and Vilallonga de Ter. The snow level is between 600 and 700 meters, potentially dropping to 300-400 meters, with accumulations exceeding five centimeters above 700 meters.

"For now, this is the most intense snowfall of this winter."

This situation has forced Protecció Civil (Civil Protection) to activate the Neucat plan and send an ES-Alert message to the most affected regions, urging limited mobility and the use of vehicle equipment. On the roads, chains are mandatory on the Collada de Tosses and the N-260 between Riudarura and Vallfonga del Ripollès.
Beyond the snow, Storm Ingrid has also activated wind and rain alerts in Alt and Baix Empordà. Wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h are expected, along with rainfall accumulations that could reach 100 liters per square meter in half an hour, with a danger warning until early Sunday morning.
