The mayor of Garrigàs, Pilar Bosch, announced that the council is working with the Diputació de Girona to draft a local housing plan, while executing works funded by the PUOSC during 2026.

The municipality of Garrigàs began 2026 with several works underway, including the rehabilitation of the local cemetery. These improvements, along with the paving of the Estanyet road, are partially funded by the Generalitat's Single Plan for Works and Services (PUOSC). Mayor Pilar Bosch stressed that the PUOSC is a "very large" contribution for small municipalities. Furthermore, a plot acquired years ago, known as l’Hort del Flequer, will be transformed into a new mixed-use square in the town center, a project that arose from a citizen participation process.

"We have a housing shortage, like other towns. And this leaves young people in a difficult situation, so we are working with the Diputació de Girona to create a housing plan."

In the field of historical memory, the city council carried out archaeological surveys in the cemetery, in collaboration with the Department of Democratic Memory of the Generalitat, searching for the remains of young people murdered during the Retirada of the Civil War, although unfortunately they were not found. On the other hand, the Local Youth Plan, implemented with the support of the Comarcal Council, has allowed the consolidation of the Espai Jove and the Cau, involving young people in social life. This vitality is also reflected in the rural school, which has gone from risk of closure to having 38 students, almost exhausting its capacity.
Regarding basic infrastructure, the council is working with the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) to improve the wastewater treatment system. In addition, works are being tendered to renew the drinking water network in two streets in the center of Garrigàs, a necessity that became evident during the drought period. Finally, regarding the Logis Empordà project, the city council has achieved a dialogue table with the Department of Territory and Incasòl, forcing the tendering of impact studies. Garrigàs promotes, as an alternative, the creation of an Empordà Agricultural Park to protect agricultural land and foster a sustainable economic model.
