A 76-year-old man was arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra in Figueres on the early morning of Thursday, March 12, after driving more than 35 kilometers in the wrong direction on the AP-7 highway, creating a dangerous situation.

The incident occurred around 1:30 AM, when several drivers alerted emergency services about a vehicle traveling in the third lane of the highway against the flow of traffic.
Officers from the Regional Operational Resources Area (ARRO), who were conducting prevention duties, received the alert and managed to stop the car at kilometer 30 of the AP-7. After removing the vehicle from the road, police confirmed that the driver was disoriented.
Alcohol and drug tests were negative, and medical services were called to assess the man's health. Once it was confirmed that he was in good condition, the Mossos proceeded with his arrest for an alleged crime of reckless driving.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the arrested individual became disoriented upon reaching the Voló toll booth and, instead of continuing correctly, turned around and began driving in the wrong direction on the highway.
