Adif has awarded a 3.7 million euro contract for the design of the Figueres rail bypass and the new Figueres-Vilafant intermodal station in the Alt Empordà region.

This phase follows a protocol signed last July involving the Ministry of Transport and the Generalitat. The total investment is expected to reach 150 million euros, aimed at integrating high-speed services with the local Rodalies network.

"The project will bring a great transformation to the city and an opportunity to revitalize the most degraded neighborhoods."

Key features include the remodeling of the Figueres-Vilafant station and the removal of two level crossings at Vilallonga Avenue and Vilatenim Walk, significantly improving urban safety and connectivity.
