The company ADIF has announced the interruption of railway service on Rodalies lines R11 and RG1 between Figueres and Portbou, in Alt Empordà, for two hours this afternoon due to strong wind forecasts in the area.

This preventive measure, aimed at ensuring passenger safety, will be in effect from 14:00 to 16:00 on March 31, 2026. The resumption of circulation will be subject to authorization from Protecció Civil authorities, as reported by the railway infrastructure manager in a statement.
The decision follows a recent incident last Friday, when an R11 line train collided with a fallen tree on the tracks in Sant Jordi Desvalls, in Gironès. Although no injuries were reported, the accident caused the suspension of circulation and the evacuation of 165 passengers.
To minimize inconvenience for users, RENFE has arranged an alternative road transport service for the affected section. This service will operate during the two-hour interruption and will continue until normal railway service can be fully restored.
The Protecció Civil de la Generalitat maintains the VENTCAT plan active due to forecasts of wind gusts that could exceed 90 km/h in various locations in Empordà and the Pyrenees, thus justifying the precautions taken in railway transport.
