The Alt Empordà region is gearing up for an intense cultural week, with a wide range of activities including reading clubs, exhibitions, and Sant Jordi celebrations, from April 20 to 26.

The program kicks off on Monday, April 20, in Figueres with the presentation of the 'Comerç amb Valor' distinctions by PIMEC Comerç Girona and Comerç Figueres at the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya. In the same city, the Biblioteca Fages de Climent will host several reading clubs, including one for children and two for adults, featuring works such as El gran llibre dels mites grecs by Eric A. Kimmel and El país de l'altra riba by Maite Salord.
Other towns in the region are also joining the initiative. Fortià will host a dance with Sergi Blanco at the Centre Agrícola i Social, while Garriguella will host a blood donation at the Sala Polivalent. In Llançà, the Biblioteca Pere Calders will present a thematic exhibition for Sant Jordi, and the Espai Jove will offer related crafts. Roses will also have its children's reading club at the Biblioteca Jaume Vicens Vives.
On Tuesday, April 21, Llançà will be the venue for an intergenerational gathering at the Residència Can Marly, with various activities. The Biblioteca Pere Calders will also propose a 'Llegir el Teatre' session featuring Èdip i Antígona by Carlota Subirós. On Wednesday, April 22, Figueres will celebrate the eve of Sant Jordi 2026 at the Teatre el Jardí, bringing together local authors and publishers to highlight the region's literary production.
Sant Jordi day, Thursday, April 23, will be intensely celebrated in Llançà with the traditional fair of roses and books in the Plaça Major. The Biblioteca Pere Calders will host the presentation of the book Recull casolà by Lluís Feliu i Pumarola, a re-edition that preserves the popular wisdom of the area. On Friday, April 24, the same library will inaugurate the exhibition 'Traços de Vida. La vida en colors', which can be visited until May 23.
The weekend will also be full of activities. On Saturday, April 25, Llançà invites visitors to discover 'Les llegendes del mar' at Platja de la Farella, a free activity that requires reservation. Finally, on Sunday, April 26, Llançà's Plaça Major will host 'El Vermut de Llucià Ferrer', and the Casa de Cultura will offer the musical and literary show 'A Temps d'Amor', featuring Martí Perraferrer, Carles Coll Bardes, Carles Coll Costa, and Clara Valero.
