The May 1st long weekend in Alt Empordà features an extensive program of activities, including concerts, theater plays, fairs, and major festivals, as well as various exhibitions for families and friends to enjoy.

The regional capital, Figueres, will be one of the epicenters of the celebration with its traditional Fires de Figueres, running until May 3rd. Highlighted events include gastronomy, art, antique, and craft exhibitions, as well as the 66th Drawing and Painting Fair in Plaça Catalunya and the 50th Collectors' Fair on La Rambla.
In addition to the fairs, Figueres will host alternative activities such as a unified demonstration for International Workers' Day, round tables, and concerts. There will also be painting and drawing workshops, a chess tournament, and various street theater performances, including Acasa by Ortiga and WOOF by Pere Hosta.
Other towns in Alt Empordà are also joining the festivities. In Castelló d'Empúries, the Basilica de Santa Maria will host a concert by the Orchestra Simfònica de les 3 Clefs. L'Escala will celebrate the XI Local Entities Fair and offer guided tours at MAC-Empúries. Cadaqués, for its part, will organize an art and craft exhibition, the presentation of the book Cadaqués inèdit, and choral concerts.
The weekend will also include solidarity activities such as the Oncoswim Solidarity Swim in L'Escala, and cultural events like the 21st Tintinophile Gathering in Cadaqués and the 14th Ascent to Sant Pere de Rodes in El Port de la Selva. Music will be present with dances in Borrassà, Fortià, Navata, Espolla, Palau-saverdera, Viladamat, and Vilabertran, and Habanera singing in Roses.
