Civil Protection has activated the Ventcat emergency plan alert due to forecasts of strong winds affecting Alt Empordà and much of Catalonia from Wednesday night through Friday morning.

According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, westerly winds may exceed 70 km/h. In the Alt Empordà region, the risk will be particularly high during Thursday afternoon and night, potentially impacting local Carnival events.
Authorities advise citizens to secure loose objects on balconies, avoid parks or wooded areas due to falling branches, and exercise extreme caution when driving, especially during lateral maneuvers.
