Political observers detect a strategic move by center-right and right-wing parties in Alt Empordà, who are modulating their discourses towards more right-leaning and populist positions, following European trends.

This trend, already observed in the European center-right and right assuming far-right theses, is now being replicated locally in Alt Empordà. According to the analysis, some local politicians have started to take precautions after forecasts point to a possible rise of the reactionary wave.
These movements are aimed at gradually modulating the narrative and strategy, adopting less centered and more right-leaning discourses, often presented in an «apolitical» manner. This tactic, described as political marketing, resembles the practices of far-right populism, seeking to prevent the «shipwreck» of the local establishment from affecting them.

Despite the calm waters flowing through the Alt Empordà, something is moving on the political board, still very subtly and strategically.

The author warns that this strategy of becoming «chameleons» is an «innocent calculation», as «people prefer the original to the copy». Politicians are advised to be authentic and speak their minds. As an example of the rise of the far-right in the region, the presentation of Sílvia Orriols, leader of Aliança Catalana, in Gualta (Baix Empordà) on January 31, supported by Emili Cuatrecasas' law firm and the business group Petit Comitè Empordà, is recalled.
