The Altem Private Foundation has set 2029 as the target date to open its new residence in Figueres, following urgent evacuations of les Acàcies residents during recent winter storms.

The current facility, located in El Far d'Empordà, sits just meters away from the Manol River in a high-risk flood zone. Recent storms in December and January forced the emergency removal of 44 residents with intellectual disabilities.

"In recent years we have experienced dramatic evictions, the Glòria storm was one of them."

Manuel Toro · President of Altem Foundation
The new project in the Ramon Reig area of Figueres will accommodate 60 permanent residents and 20 day-center users. The Figueres City Council has already approved the land transfer to ensure the safety of the vulnerable residents.
