The Consell Comarcal de l'Alt Empordà is promoting a series of events dedicated to the elderly, including talks on free aging and the fight against ageism in various municipalities across the region.

The project, which combines illustration with social integration, has established itself as a tool for reflection on old age. Through a fictional character, the proposal addresses issues such as unwanted loneliness, aesthetic pressure, and the need to reclaim a life stage free from social prejudices.
On June 9 and 10, the initiative will visit towns such as Castelló d'Empúries, l'Escala, and Figueres. These sessions aim to empower the elderly, with a special focus on women, who often face double discrimination based on age and gender.

The proposal challenges the traditional concept of active aging, advocating instead for free aging. According to the project leader, the key is not to fill one's schedule with activities, but to have the ability to choose how to live this stage of life. The work, which has grown from social media to books and conferences, draws on the real-life stories of women who have participated in workshops across the country.
