The Castelló d'Empúries Town Council passed a resolution this week calling on the Generalitat to grant local boats the same navigation rights as other municipalities in the Cap de Creus.

The local government is seeking a revision of the Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG) of the Cap de Creus Natural Park. The current regulations impose restrictions on night navigation and jet skis across 3,000 hectares, but provide exemptions for towns like Roses and Cadaqués.

"What we are asking for is equity with the other municipalities with whom we share this maritime space."

In other news, Mayor Anna Massot addressed an increase in census fraud attempts. The Local Police have intensified home visits to ensure that individuals applying for residency actually live at the registered addresses, leading to a higher number of rejected applications.
Finally, opposition parties led by Junts successfully voted to change the frequency of council meetings. Plenary sessions will now be held monthly instead of every two months, aiming to improve political transparency and speed up the approval of municipal projects.
