The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, met with Revolta Pagesa on Monday evening to confirm the commitment to defend the sector against the EU-Mercosur agreement, leading to the imminent lifting of road closures.

The President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Salvador Illa, committed to defending Catalan farmers against the imminent approval of the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur. This decision followed a meeting with representatives of the Revolta Pagesa movement on Monday evening at the Palau de la Generalitat.
The compensatory measures demanded by the guild include increasing the Agriculture budget, reducing the hydrocarbon tax, and conducting food audits in supermarkets. These actions aim to strengthen local production and ensure that South American products meet the same requirements demanded of Catalan and European farmers.

"We positively value that President Illa has personally corroborated the promises made by Minister Ordeig, and we will begin direct monitoring to provide resources to the sector."

Following these commitments, Revolta Pagesa representatives plan to lift the protests that have been active since last Thursday throughout the evening. Affected points included the C-16 near Berga, the C-38 at Coll d'Ares, and the blockades on the AP-7 and N-II near Pontons (Alt Empordà).
