The CUP party in Figueres has voiced strong opposition this February to the project of moving the city's conventional train station to Vilafant, labeling it as urban speculation.

Spokesperson Xavier Colomer argued that removing the station from the city center contradicts modern mobility standards. The party highlights that the current station serves 6,000 passengers daily and is vital for the 700,000 annual bus users who connect there.

"The project to suppress the Figueres station does not respond to mobility criteria or the right to public transport accessibility."

MP Dani Cornellà has formally questioned the Generalitat regarding the project's inclusion in the 2026-30 Commuter Rail Plan. The CUP maintains that keeping stations in urban centers is essential, noting that similar relocation projects in places like Tudela have been abandoned due to poor results.
