The 40th Peralada Festival has concluded with notable success in attendance, achieving 96.4% occupancy. The festival stood out for its focus on artistic proposals originating within the festival itself, featuring commissions, premieres, and its own productions that facilitate the circulation of works both nationally and internationally. This edition was particularly prolific in recordings by public media, such as RTVE and Catalunya Música, which documented several of the performances.
The closing event of the 40th edition featured Jordi Savall, accompanied by his women's orchestra and soprano Núria Rial, presenting a program of Italian Baroque music. This concert, which will also be performed in Santes Creus, joins the extensive list of recorded performances during the festival, including 'Diario di una madre', 'Estètica i massacre', the concert by the Trio Fortuny, the recital by Montserrat Torrent, and Savall's performance. These recordings, along with the initial concerts in Rome, make this edition the most documented in the festival's history.
Artistic director Oriol Aguilà highlighted the festival's role as a "laboratory space" and confirmed its continuity thanks to the commitment of the third generation of the promoting family. "The project has a future life," stated Aguilà, who received a visit from representatives of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. For Easter 2027, the festival has already announced two new productions: 'Lecciones de tinieblas' by Raquel García Tomás and a 'St. John Passion' by Johann Sebastian Bach, directed by Lina Tur with her ensemble Musica Alchemica.
