The severe easterly storm affecting the Alt Empordà region has caused major flooding in the municipality of Llançà. The accumulation of water has forced the council to take drastic measures, including closing access to the N-260 road and Avinguda Mistral, as vehicle passage was impossible.
Around seventy subscribers are without drinking water due to a burst pipe on Empordà street.
Mayor Núria Escarpanter confirmed the supply incident, which affects approximately seventy subscribers after a pipe burst on carrer Empordà. In addition to traffic and supply issues, the storm also caused material damage, flooding a couple of ground-floor properties and local businesses.
Municipal technicians are currently working hard to clear the drains, which have been filled with leaves and debris, to maximize the absorption capacity of the accumulated rainwater. The Llançà City Council has issued a clear request to citizens, asking them to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay away from both the stream bed and the beaches, where strong waves pose a danger.
