The Bombers (Firefighters) preventively evacuated 40 residents from the Les Acàcies center, managed by the Fundació Altem in El Far d'Empordà, this Tuesday, due to the risk of the Manol river overflowing following the heavy storm.

The operation started around 8:30 AM on Tuesday and involved four units of the Bombers, who coordinated the action to ensure the safety of the residents, who are individuals with intellectual disabilities or mental disorders.
The decision to evacuate was made because the facility, run by the Fundació Altem, is situated in an area known to flood recurrently when the Manol river rises significantly due to heavy rainfall.

The Les Acàcies residence cares for people with intellectual disabilities or mental disorders in an area of recurrent flood risk.

According to the ACN news agency, six of the residents deemed most vulnerable were transferred to the Bernat Jaume intermediate care hospital, while the remaining evacuated individuals were relocated to other facilities belonging to the Fundació Altem.
