The city of Figueres will have a new regulated parking space starting next Monday, June 22nd. Located in the former warehouse of the transport company Activa Exprés, the facility will feature 34 blue zone parking spots and will be managed by FISERSA.
This initiative is part of the Proximity Parking Plan promoted by the City Council of Figueres. The objective is to enhance parking availability near the city center and facilitate access to commercial and service areas. The strategic location of the new parking lot, close to Nou and Méndez Núñez streets, allows for the recovery of a disused space for public use.
The project was made possible through an agreement with the property owners. Initially, the council had planned to include this space in a broader package of new proximity parking facilities to increase parking capacity in various parts of the city. Ultimately, the intervention on Clerch i Nicolau street will provide 34 regulated spots.
In parallel with the creation of the parking lot, restoration work is underway on the facade of the former Activa Exprés warehouse. This effort aims to recover the original colors and painted signs, which are cataloged elements testifying to the area's transport history. The intervention preserves this heritage and visual value while adapting the interior for its new public use.
“"With the opening of this parking facility, the municipal government takes another step in deploying its plan to generate more proximity spaces and respond to one of the recurring demands in the center of Figueres."
